Ways to start Agent

Run Agent with a tap, your voice, the Share Sheet, the Action Button, or a Home Screen widget.

After setup, you can put the same Agent shortcut where it is easiest to reach. Every entry point uses the same model, Instructions, and enabled tools.

Tap the Agent tile

Open Apple’s Shortcuts app and tap the Agent tile. This is the simplest way to begin a request from scratch.

Ask Siri

Say the name of the shortcut to Siri. For example, say "Hey Siri, Agent." Siri starts the shortcut and Agent asks what you want to do.

Use a short, easy-to-say shortcut name if you plan to start it by voice often.

Share what is already in front of you

Choose Agent from the Share Sheet to begin with useful context already attached. Supported Shortcut input can include:

  • plain or rich text
  • links and Safari pages
  • messages, email content, and contacts
  • images and photo media
  • audio such as a voice memo
  • PDFs and other files

Then describe the outcome you want. For example, share a voice memo and ask Agent to turn the action items into reminders.

Assign Agent to the Action Button

On an iPhone with an Action Button, choose Shortcut in the Action Button settings and select Agent. Pressing the button can then start Agent without opening the Shortcuts app first.

Add a Home Screen widget

Add Apple’s Shortcuts widget to the Home Screen and choose Agent as one of its tiles. This provides a persistent one-tap entry point beside the apps you use every day.

Use a Quick Action or other Shortcuts surface

Agent can also receive input from Shortcuts surfaces that pass native Shortcut Input, such as Quick Actions or “What’s On Screen.” Availability depends on the Apple device and operating system.

Whichever entry point you choose, the request continues through the same Agent workflow. If an entry point does not start Agent, use the troubleshooting guide.
